Situated in the heart of mid-Michigan, the South 17th Street Church of Christ serves as a vital light in the city of Saginaw. While the modern church culture tends to focus on the role of the "pastor," the church of Christ recognizes that each member is accountable to live as lights in a sinful and dark world (Matthew 5:14-16). Thus, every member learns to identify with his/her greatest purpose in life, which is to die to self and live a life for Christ (Luke 9:23, Galatians 2:20). Guests can expect to witness an actively engaged membership where the focus of the body is Christ-centered and not minister-centered. Members show considerable love and consideration toward all scriptural leaders. They recognize, however, that God calls upon all disciples of Christ to take responsibility for representing the Lord our God (2 Corinthians 5:20). Therefore, there exists an atmosphere conducive to promoting the shear glory and honor of God and Him alone (Colossians 3:17, 1 Peter 4:11).
